Sellers Dorsey is pleased to announce it has added Mari Cantwell as a Director. Ms. Cantwell is the most recent former Medicaid Director from the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), having served in that position for nearly five years before serving as Senior Strategic Advisor for Sellers Dorsey beginning in February 2020. Working alongside her colleagues from across the United States, Ms. Cantwell provides critical expertise developed through her work in DHCS, which is home to Medi-Cal, the largest state Medicaid program in the nation. At Sellers Dorsey, Ms. Cantwell now assists public, private, and nonprofit organizations in California and across the country.
Prior to being named Medicaid Director for California, Ms. Cantwell was the Chief Deputy Director of Health Care Programs and was responsible for the overall management of the program and policy divisions of DHCS, specifically including Health Care Delivery Systems, Health Care Financing, and Health Care Benefits and Eligibility. Ms. Cantwell initially joined DHCS in 2011 when she was appointed to serve as the Deputy Director, Health Care Financing, where she was responsible for the development, promotion, and implementation of health care delivery systems serving the beneficiaries of the State’s Medi-Cal program.
“It is extremely fortunate for our firm and our clients that we are able to bring pivotal leaders like Mari into our team,” said Martin Sellers, Founder and CEO of Sellers Dorsey. “She is supremely equipped to enrich the culture and strength of our firm, thanks to her commitment to quality and integrity, and to helping our clients fulfill their missions.”
Ms. Cantwell leverages her deep knowledge of Medi-Cal and the California health care systems and marketplace to assist clients primarily in that state. As an integrated member of the staff at Sellers Dorey, she also supports the firm’s teams elsewhere, supplying knowledge of health care delivery systems and financing initiatives where her expertise can have the most impact through Medicaid consulting engagements across the country.
“I am delighted to join my colleagues at Sellers Dorsey as a full member of the team,” said Ms. Cantwell. “These professionals have the passion and vision needed to enhance health care access and quality for individuals and communities.”
