Prior to joining the firm, Chris served as the Legislative Director at the Human Rights Campaign where he developed and implemented strategies to advance the organization’s priorities in the legislative and executive branches. He led several coalitions and worked with organizational partners to enact measures to prohibit discrimination, drive towards marriage equality, reauthorize the Ryan White CARE Act and increase access to Medicaid. Prior to this experience, he served as a health care and education policy advisor in the U.S. House of Representatives. He also served as the co-chair of the Human Rights Campaign Board of Directors.
Christopher Labonte is responsible for leading the development and execution of the firm’s corporate strategic plan and for business planning across the enterprise. Leveraging his experience in state and federal government, he also provides leadership to the firm’s government relations efforts.
As the CAO and Chief of Staff, Chris is responsible for corporate support functions of the firm, including internal communications, information technology and facilities. Working with colleagues throughout the firm, he aligns resources to meet the firm’s mission and works to continuously improve the firm’s operations to support the team in securing results for clients and the communities they serve.
Prior to taking on this role, he served the firm as a Senior Vice President responsible for business development and growth. He worked to expand the firm’s sales operations and team, maintaining a focus on clients and key markets. Throughout his 17-year tenure at the firm, he also worked with a diverse set of clients at Sellers Dorsey on initiatives and projects aimed at increasing equity, access, and quality for the Medicaid population.
